2014 WCRC Retreat

The 4th Annual WCRC Scientific Retreat was held on September 5th-6th 2014 at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA. We had 108 participants and we were excited to have two keynote speakers this year. The first was Anil K. Sood, MD, Professor of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, who is an expert in novel and innovative approaches in both breast and ovarian cancer research and treatment. The second was Shannon Kelleher, PhD, a local at Penn State University, who is an Associate Professor of Nutritional Sciences, Surgery and Cell & Molecular Physiology as well as an expert in Zinc Biology and Breast Cancer. For 2014, awards were presented for best oral presentation, best posters, and best speed dating speakers. The retreat also featured a successful 5K Fun Run at the beautiful grounds of Nemacolin Woodlands.

2013 WCRC Retreat

The 3rd Annual WCRC Scientific Retreat was held on November 15-16 2013 at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA. We were excited to have Lisa Coussens, PhD, Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology, Oregon Health & Science University, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Couseens is a world-renowned expert in the area of studying the role of immune cells in regulation of solid tumor development, including skin, lung and breast cancer development.

2012 WCRC Retreat

2012 Retreat Brochure

The 2nd Annual WCRC Scientific Retreat was held on September 7th-8th 2012 at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA. We had 125 participants and we were excited to have William C. Hahn, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Director, Center for Cancer Genome Discovery, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as our keynote speaker. Dr. Hahn is a world-renowned expert in the area of genomics in breast and ovarian cancer, with a focus on converting knowledge of genetic alterations into the foundation for new cancer therapies.

For 2012, awards were presented for best oral presentation and best posters. The retreat also featured a successful 5K Fun Run at the beautiful grounds of Nemacolin Woodlands.

2011 WCRC Retreat

2011 Retreat Brochure

The 1st WCRC retreat was held on May 6th-7th 2011 at the Fox Chapel Golf club (Friday) and Magee-Womens Research Institute (Saturday) in Pittsburgh. We had 90 participants, and the retreat was a big success. Our keynote Speaker was Matthew J. Ellis, MD, PhD, the Anheuser-Busch Chair in Medical Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
