The UPCI Protocol Review Committee (PRC) oversees all proposed clinical protocols involving subjects with cancer, prior to their submission to the University of Pittsburgh Institutional Review Board (IRB). The primary aim of the PRC is to ensure that the protocol utilizes scientifically sound and appropriate research methods and statistical analysis. This constructive critique helps Principal Investigators fine-tune proposed protocol language to ensure protocols contain all elements necessary for a sound research proposal, with particular emphasis on scientific content, feasibility to conduct the trial at UPCI, and necessary estimation of resources required to carry out the proposed study. This review can help facilitate a positive review by the IRB.
