Lecture Title: Cancer Risk In Israeli Holocaust Survivors The Impact of Famine and WWII-PTSD

Dr. Vin-Raviv has an M.P.H. and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Haifa University in Israel. Her M.P.H. thesis, examined cancer incidence and survival among Holocaust survivors who had immigrated to Israel after World War II and found that Israeli Holocaust survivors had a higher incidence of all cancers, especially breast and colorectal cancer, compared to Jewish immigrants from Europe who had not been interned during the Holocaust. Her Ph.D. thesis followed up this work with a case-control study among Holocaust survivors specifically with breast cancer and found an association between caloric restriction, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and breast cancer later in life.

The Cooper Classrooms are located on the ground level of the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave, Shadyside. After entering the building walk to the left past the elevators and gift shop and make the first left down the hallway. Room A is the 1st door in the lobby area.
