Members of the MCCBP engage in research that examines the most fundamental aspects of cancer biology. The goal of this basic research program, in the broadest sense, is to make new discoveries about the molecular and cellular basis of cancer development and progression. A strong foundation in basic research is crucial for advancing cancer care and clinical outcomes, as basic research findings provide a source of new therapeutic targets as well as new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
