Service options

1.  Luminex Instrument Fee: The customer purchases the kit(s), processes the samples, and delivers the plate(s) for analysis. Plate(s) should be sealed, maintained at 4°C, and protected from light.  The Luminex Facility will analyze the plate(s) and provide the data as an Excel spreadsheet.

2. Plate processing with commercially available kits. The customer provides the samples and kit(s) purchased either directly from one of the manufacturers or through the core. Several companies have extended discounted pricing which we can pass along to our customers. The Luminex Facility processes the plate(s) and provides the data as an Excel spreadsheet.

4. Kit development by Luminex Facility: The Customer provides the antibodies (monoclonal for capture, polyclonal for detection) and protein standard. Luminex Core personnel are available for consultation and the assay development is offered on a no guarantee basis.

When the samples are submitted to the Luminex Facility, the core personnel will request a completed worksheet with a billable account number and a completed plate map. Download both pdfs here (28kb), or contact the Luminex Facility (412-623-7748).

Sample Requirements

Samples in a 96-well plate format are preferred and a completed plate map should be provided. The plate should be sealed with sealing tape., wrapped in cellophane, and placed in a sandwich size bag. Individual tube samples (1.5ml pp, .5mL pp, or 1ml cryo tubes) should be provided in a box format with an enclosed list of the samples. Additionally, provide general background information (viruses [additional clean-up fee $50.00], species origin, chemotherapeutic agents, etc.) for the samples, and indicate the name, phone number, and e-mail of the investigator. Also, include a contact person if different than the primary investigator.

The LUMINEX Facility has a current list of members, and the operators will verify the customer’s membership at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI).
