Overview
Molecular and cellular imaging by magnetic resonance provides real-time in vivo analyses of the physiological, cellular, and molecular processes that occur in living tissues, as well as their responses to medical interventions. The MRI Facility (MRIF) provides state-of the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of both small animals and cancer patients to support the research of UPCI investigators. The establishment of the MRIF brings an integrated, cohesive infrastructure to UPCI research utilizing MRI.
The goals of the MRIF are to:
- Provide comprehensive, economical, state-of-the-art MRI methods in support of basic and clinical scientific efforts. These services include molecular and cellular imaging techniques, pulse sequence design and implementation, imaging protocol development, contrast agent synthesis, and data analysis package development services.
- Provide expert consultation in the design and application of relevant MRI methods, enabling the selection of the most suitable technique for research studies.
- Provide personnel who have the technical, physical, and intellectual skills to facilitate and implement the necessary MRI research protocols.
