The UPCI is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in western Pennsylvania. Since 1985, the UPCI has been committed to improving the understanding of how cancer develops; to characterizing new lifesaving approaches for cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment; and to educating future generations of scientists and clinicians. This site presents many of the research activities at UPCI and describes the academic, educational and institutional environment of the cancer center.

The UPMC Cancer Centers recently was awarded the National Chairman's Citation for Excellence in Community Service from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
