Training:

Prior to use, please contact the facility for a short training session, or to arrange for a trained user to be present during first imaging session.

All users must complete a Billing Information Sheet prior to first use. These are available from the Facility Director, or below.

Luciferin substrate can also be purchased directly from the facility for $450 (for 1g; this is a $200 saving negotiated by the facility for users); please contact the facility to purchase luciferin.

Scheduling:

Users can view the schedule through Outlook via the Public Folders:

  • In Outlook, expand “Public Folders”, then expand “All Public Folders”
  • Expand “Small Animal Imaging”

Send an e-mail to SAIC@upmc.edu indicating

  • the time and date you wish to book;
  • the account you wish to bill to;
  • and the number of an approved IACUC protocol (an SOP for imaging can be obtained from the facility)

All bookings received in the previous 24h will be processed at 9 am every morning, placed on the calendar and a confirmation e-mail sent.

Utilization of the SAIF is available to all UPCI members and the research community on a first come, first served basis. Unless appointments are canceled 24 hours in advance of the scheduled time, the customer’s account will be charged for one (1) hour of time.
