Training Activities:
The MRIF faculty have a strong history of mentoring undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral students, and faculty. Trainees can take two courses offered by faculty members covering the topics of medical imaging systems in the Bioengineering Department at the University of Pittsburgh. One course is offered in the Spring and the other course is offered in the Fall by Dr. Fernando Boada (Biological Therapeutics Program). Trainees can also take a course covering the use of NMR in biomedical sciences offered by Dr. Ho in the Bioengineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University. This course is offered in the Fall and Spring semesters. Trainees also attend weekly seminars.
Cancer researchers are trained in the development of imaging modalities and the translation of these modalities into clinical cancer research. Regular training workshops, classes, and seminars in the latest advances of MRI are offered several times a year. UPCI members are encouraged to attend. MRIF faculty also participate in UPCI research seminars and grand rounds, as well as other institution-wide events.
