Worksheets

For operator assisted cytometry, worksheets need to be completed before experiments will be run on the cytometers. These worksheets help the operators run the experiment, as well as provide the investigator a record of the experiment. There are two pages to the worksheet. Please be sure to complete both pages as completely as possible. Worksheets can be obtained from the Flow Cytometry Facility Lab (1.45 in the Hillman Cancer Center Research Pavilion) or click on the page number below to view and print the work sheet.

Page 1 details general background information designed to help in the proper analysis of the experiment. Since factors such as viability, purification and fixative influence how the cytometer sees the sample, it is important to include this information. Likewise, it is necessary to indicate which fluorochromes were used and the type of analysis desired. Missing information may delay processing of the experiment.

Please indicate name and phone number of the investigator at the top of the worksheet. Often questions arise during the flow analysis of the experiment and it may be necessary to reach someone. Also, include a contact person if different than the primary investigator. For billing purposes, it is important to include an account number.

Page 2 indicates what is in each sample tube. Tubes are run sequentially as listed on the worksheet. Tube #1 must be an appropriate negative control and will be used to adjust for autofluorescence. Additional negative controls must precede each cell type if the experiment encompasses more than one cell type. To avoid any misunderstanding, please circle all negative controls.
