Services

The following services are available:

  1. CPAF provides accessible, economical, comprehensive, and state-of-the-art analytical chemical services in support of basic and clinical UPCI research programs. These services include the quantitation of drugs, metabolites, and other endogenous products in biological matrices and the identification of drug metabolites in biological matrices. CPAF maintains, and continues to expand, a diverse array of analytical chemistry instrumentation including HPLC systems with absorbance detection or fluorescence detection, HPLC/MS, HPLC/MS/MS, and atomic absorption spectrometry instrumentation. All instrumentation is operated under accepted practice standards for assay implementation and validation.
  2. CPAF provides accessible, comprehensive, state-of-the-art pharmacokinetic modeling and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic interaction assessment in support of basic and clinical UPCI research programs. To achieve this end, the Facility maintains a wide variety of PK modeling software and has strong collaborative interactions with academic and industrial developers of PK modeling software, so as to have the most sophisticated software available and to participate in development of additional or novel PK modeling approaches.
  3. CPAF provides accurate and accessible consultations with UPCI investigators in the design of studies involving analytical chemical, PK, or pharmacodynamic (PD) efforts. CPAF strives to maximize efficiency and productivity by offering extensive consultation with investigators to define the research goals to be met through application of analytical chemistry, PK, or PD modeling and then assisting with decisions concerning study design, sample handling, and data analysis.

Quality control procedures are part of the standard operating procedure for analytical chemical activities. Other policies are in place to ensure generation of data of the highest reliability and reproducibility. Services are evaluated on a regular basis to assess levels of scientific demand, potential benefits of research, and financial feasibility. The Facility encourages suggestions and requests for new assays or instrumentation from investigators that require additional support for their research activities. The CPAF attempts to maintain maximum flexibility, and is eager to work with individuals on special project needs that are not necessarily regular activities within the Facility. The CPAF strives to support and enhance the research environment; every effort is made to acquire new instrumentation, software, or capabilities as the field of analytical chemistry and pharmacokinetics advances in technique and concept.
