The NCI requires that publications acknowledge the UPCI CCSG support, and they are tracking compliance. If a UPCI CCSG-supported Shared Facility provided data used in your publication, please include the following statement in the acknowledgment section of your publication(s):

"This project used the UPCI [insert name(s) of shared facility(ies)] that [is/are] supported in part by award P30CA047904."

Shared Facility Directors: Please make sure to include this statement on all of your order forms, contracts, etc. as a reminder to your users to acknowledge the UPCI CCSG support.


Overview

The Animal Facility (AF) / Division of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) encompass several facilities and supports research across the six schools of the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences.

Our mission statement is: Enhancing research excellence through quality animal care. This is accomplished by providing quality, humane animal care and services in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements to support existing and future animal research programs at the University.

The day-to-day care of animals is managed through the DLAR and overseen by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). The University of Pittsburgh Animal Care and Use Program (Unit #476) is fully accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International, affirmed via AAALAC's website. In addition, the University has a letter of assurance on file with OLAW, NIH (#A3187-01) and is registered as a research institution with the United States Department of Agriculture (23-R-0024).
