Catalog of Images from the UPCI Cytogenetics Facility
The fluorescence in
situ hybridization images, comparative genomic hybridization analyses
and images, and the karyotype images were generated on the CytoVision
Ultra System from Applied Imaging, Santa Clara, CA.
- Image 1: FISH
FHIT exons 5 (green) and 9/10 (red) hybridized to control lymphocyte
metaphase. Images 1-3 are derived from the research of Susanne Gollin,
Kay Huebner, and Carlo Croce, funded by NIH DE10513, CA39860, and CA21124.
- Image 2: FISH
FHIT exons 5 and 9/10 hybridized to UPCI:SCC084 interphase nuclei.
Note absence of one copy of each exon in this oral carcinoma cell line.
- Image 3: FISH
FHIT exons 5 and 9/10 hybridized to a UPCI:SCC056 interphase nucleus.
Note absence of both copies of exon 5 and one copy of exons 9/10 in
this oral carcinoma cell line.
- Image 4: FISH
INT2 (red; 11q13) and D11Z1 (green; chromosome 11 centromere)
probes hybridized to UPCI:SCC131 metaphase. Note amplification of INT2
in this oral carcinoma cell line. Probes from Oncor, Inc., Gaithersburg,
MD. Results from the research of Susanne Gollin, funded by NIH DE10513.
- Image 5: Two representative G-banded metaphases from a mouse leukemia cell line.
- Image 6: Abnormal NHP karyotype.
- Image
7: Breast cancer cell line karyotype
Representative abnormal karyotype of a human breast cancer cell line studied by Dr. Jean Latimer.
- Image 8: Paraffin section interphase FISH.
Amplification of the cyclin D1 gene (CCND1) shown by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on a paraffin section of a head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
- Image 9: Metaphase FISH
Amplification of the cyclin D1 gene (CCND1) shown by fluorescence in situ hybridization on metaphase chromosomes from a head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cell line.
- Image 10: Near-tetraploid murine karyotype.
Near-tetraploid murine chromosome complement.
- Image 11: VNTR FISH
Identification of normal and aberrant chromosomes 15 in a CHO hybrid metaphase cell studied by Dr. Robert Nicholls.
