Clinical Research at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) is carried out in collaboration with UPMC Cancer Centers. Clinical Research Services (CRS), a shared resource established in 1986, facilitates development, implementation, and completion of all UPCI clinical research studies.
UPCI has 13 Disease Sites around which clinical research is focused. For a list of these areas and their leaders, please see Disease Sites.
Clinical Trials, also known as “clinical protocols,” provide research participants with access to innovative cancer tests and treatments. See Clinical Trials for more information or to search for active clinical trials.
Before clinical trials can become active they must be approved by the UPCI Protocol Review Committee. To learn more about the review process and the Committee, see Protocol Review.
UPCI’s Data and Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC) provides oversight for and ensures the safety of participants in clinical trials. For more information or to download required forms, see DSMC.
